John was Michael and Caroline’s second son. He was born in 1889 and was often called Jack.
Jack did not join his younger two brothers in the first world war. Apparently Caroline refused to let him enlist, saying that two sons was enough. (Tom and Bill had already joined up).
In 1921 Jack married Adeline Wilhemene Caroline Weisse. They had five children: Beryl, John, Joyce, Roy and Dorothy.
Jack worked as a railway ganger like his father.
