I’ve recently updated the page on William Ahern to include more information about his war service. The Emu Park RSL will be including information about William and his brother Tom in a new exhibit as part of their Centenary of ANZAC project. William and Tom’s names are already on the cenotaph in Emu Park, and their photos also hang in the RSL Memorial Hall thanks to Dean Ahern.
I’ve finally gotten around to adding information to Daisy’s page. Thanks to her grandson John, I’ve added a picture of Daisy and her family. It’s wonderful to finally see a photo of Daisy and be able to share it here. Thanks again John.
Emu Park has expanded its war memorial with the opening of the Emu Park Centenary of ANZAC project on the 18th of March. The project includes a memorial walkway, a boardwalk along the coast up to the Singing Ship and some beautiful artwork commemorating the ANZACs. Across the road is the RSL and the original memorial with the names of the Emu Park men who served in the first world war, including William and Tom Ahern.
Plans are underway for the 2014 Ahern Reunion to be held at Emu Park on June 6, 7 and 8.
The highlight will of course be the football match on Saturday the 7th.
Stay tuned for more information.
